NATA Press Room

Editorial Guidelines for Language Industry Press Releases and Featured Articles

The NATA Press Room gives translation companies, language service providers, language technology companies, professional associations and approved industry partners a focused place to publish meaningful news and tell their story to a North American audience.

These guidelines explain what we accept, how paid publications are identified, what our editorial review covers and how to choose between a press release and a featured article.

What the NATA Press Room Publishes

The Press Room covers news and paid editorial content directly connected to translation, localization, interpreting, language access, multilingual communication and language technology. Publication on NATA is intended to create a clear industry record and place relevant announcements in front of companies, buyers and professionals interested in the North American language market.

NATA publication is not the same as distribution through a general newswire. We do not promise external syndication, journalist coverage, search-engine rankings, referral traffic or commercial results. Every submission is reviewed for relevance, clarity and compliance before publication.

Who May Submit Content

Press-release and featured-article services are designed primarily for NATA member companies. NATA may also accept orders from professional associations, language technology providers, educational institutions, event organizers and other approved organizations whose activities are directly relevant to the language industry.

Payment does not guarantee acceptance. NATA may request evidence, revisions or clarification and may decline material that falls outside the scope of the platform or does not meet these guidelines.

Press Releases

Accepted Press Release Topics

A language industry press release should contain a timely, identifiable announcement. Appropriate subjects include:

  • Company launches, openings, expansions and new offices
  • Mergers, acquisitions, investments and strategic partnerships
  • Executive appointments and significant leadership changes
  • New translation, localization, interpreting or language-technology services
  • Product launches and material technology updates
  • Professional certifications, accreditations and independently verifiable awards
  • Research findings, surveys, reports and market data
  • Industry events, conferences, webinars and calls for participation
  • Community initiatives and language-access programs
  • Other material developments affecting the North American language industry

Press Release Submission Requirements

Press releases should normally be between 400 and 1,000 words and written in clear professional English. The release must identify the issuing organization, explain the announcement, provide an appropriate date or dateline and include a media or company contact.

Each submission should include:

  • A proposed headline that states the news rather than making a vague promotional claim
  • The final release in an editable document format
  • The issuing company's legal or recognized business name
  • A short company description or boilerplate
  • A named contact and professional email address
  • One primary image or logo that the submitter is authorized to publish
  • The relevant company or product links
  • Supporting evidence for certifications, awards, rankings, market claims or statistics when requested

The $250 publication fee includes editorial review, reasonable copyediting, formatting and publication in the appropriate NATA Press Room category. It does not include full press-release writing, translation, extensive fact-checking, external newswire distribution or guaranteed placement in third-party media.

Featured Article Formats

A featured article gives a company or leader more space to explain its work, perspective and development. Unlike a press release, a feature is shaped as an editorial presentation rather than a formal announcement.

Available formats may include:

  • Company profile: an introduction to the company's history, positioning, services and market
  • Executive interview: a question-and-answer conversation with a founder, chief executive or industry leader
  • Founder story: the origin, development and ambition behind a language business
  • Technology feature: a focused presentation of a platform, workflow or language solution
  • Market perspective: a sponsored expert view on a clearly identified industry issue
  • Case-based feature: a discussion of an approach or outcome that can be supported with appropriate evidence and permissions

The $800 featured-article fee covers the agreed editorial format, development from the information supplied by the client, reasonable editorial preparation, a factual review by the featured organization and publication on NATA. The precise scope, interview method, length and asset requirements are confirmed after the order is received.

Editorial Review and Approval

All paid submissions are reviewed by NATA before publication. We may edit headlines, grammar, structure, formatting and descriptions to improve readability, consistency and accuracy. If an edit materially changes the meaning of a statement, the submitter will be asked to confirm it before publication.

For featured articles, the participating company may review the draft for factual accuracy and provide consolidated corrections. Final headlines, structure, labeling and editorial presentation remain subject to NATA approval.

NATA reserves the right to postpone, reject, unpublish or request changes to content that is inaccurate, misleading, legally sensitive, poorly substantiated or inconsistent with the platform's standards.

Paid Content Labels and Outbound Links

Transparency is essential to the credibility of the Press Room. Paid press releases will be identified as Press Release or Member Press Release. Paid profiles, interviews and promotional editorial formats will be identified as Sponsored Feature, Partner Content or another clear commercial label.

Relevant links to the submitting organization may be included at NATA's discretion. Because the placement is paid, outbound links may be qualified with rel="sponsored" or another appropriate attribute. Publication must not be purchased for the purpose of manipulating search rankings, and NATA does not guarantee link authority, indexing, ranking improvements or a particular anchor text.

Accuracy, Evidence and Promotional Claims

The submitting organization is responsible for the accuracy of names, dates, quotations, credentials, statistics, product claims and legal statements. NATA may request supporting documents but does not independently audit every factual assertion.

Claims such as best, leading, largest, first, fastest or number one must be supported by a clearly identified and credible basis. Certifications, accreditations, awards, customer numbers and financial or market data must not be exaggerated or presented in a misleading way.

Customer names, quotations, case studies and photographs may be used only when the submitter has the necessary permission.

Originality and Responsible Use of AI

Submitted content must be original or lawfully authorized for publication. Material copied from another publication, generated from protected content without permission or submitted simultaneously under conflicting rights may be rejected.

Writing tools and artificial intelligence may be used to assist preparation, but the submitter remains responsible for every statement. Fabricated quotations, invented statistics, false credentials, undisclosed impersonation and low-quality automated content are not accepted.

Images, Logos and Supporting Assets

Images should be clear, relevant and suitable for digital publication. The submitter must own the asset or hold sufficient rights to authorize its use by NATA. Images containing third-party trademarks, identifiable people, client materials or copyrighted artwork may require additional permission.

NATA may crop, resize or decline an image for presentation, accessibility, legal or quality reasons. Submission of an asset does not require NATA to use it.

Standards

Content We Do Not Accept

NATA will not knowingly publish content that:

  • Is false, deceptive, defamatory, discriminatory or unlawfully threatening
  • Infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other third-party rights
  • Contains fabricated testimonials, quotations, credentials or statistics
  • Promotes illegal services, fraud, spam, deceptive recruitment or exploitative business practices
  • Makes unsupported accusations against competitors, clients, translators or professional organizations
  • Is primarily political, unrelated to the language industry or inconsistent with NATA's audience
  • Attempts to disguise paid promotion as independent NATA analysis
  • Is created primarily to place manipulative or irrelevant links

Corrections, Updates and Removal

Submitters should notify NATA promptly if a published statement becomes inaccurate. Reasonable factual corrections may be made after publication. Material changes, promotional rewrites or repeated updates may require a new order.

NATA may add a correction note, update a label, remove a link, unpublish content or retain an archival record when necessary for accuracy, legal compliance, platform integrity or enforcement of the Terms of Use.

Publication Timing, Payment and Results

Publication timing begins only after NATA receives complete materials, payment and any requested evidence. A requested date is not confirmed until accepted by the editorial team. Embargoes and time-sensitive announcements must be identified before submission.

All editorial orders are final and non-refundable, subject to the Terms of Use. If a submission cannot be accepted in its current form, NATA may offer the submitter an opportunity to revise it. Publication does not guarantee traffic, leads, media coverage, backlinks from other websites, search visibility or commercial results.
